Thank you for your interest in joining the Long Island Romance Writers (LIRW)!
PLEASE NOTE: If you were a member of the LIRW in the past but your membership has lapsed, please fill out the New Member Application.
LIRW PURPOSE: Our goals as a chapter are to promote excellence in romantic fiction and advance the professional interests of career-focused romance writers through networking and advocacy, dissemination of information, professional education, publications, and other appropriate activities, and to provide continuing support for writers within the romance publishing industry.
MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY: All individuals who have attained the age of 18 and who agree to accept the purposes of RWA and this chapter and to faithfully observe and be bound by the LIRW Chapter Bylaws of this chapter and the provisions of its Civility Code shall be eligible to apply for membership. Membership shall not be denied to adults because of race, color, gender, age, religion, national origin, marital status, sexual preference, disability, or political affiliation.
Members agree to support the chapter and their fellow writers by adhering to high standards of respectful, professional and responsible conduct in all chapter matters.
There are 2 classes of membership in the chapter, General and Associate.
General Membership is open to all who are seriously pursuing a career in romance fiction writing. Only general members can vote and hold office.
Dues for General Membership are $40 annually from the date of membership.
Associate Membership is open to all who wish to support the chapter and its purposes but who do not meet the criteria for General Membership. Please see the RWA Website for Member Classification details. Whatever Classification you select for RWA is the Classification you must choose for joining LIRW. Associate members cannot vote or hold office.
Dues for Associate Membership are $40 annually from the date of membership.
